Calvary Cemetary Obituaries

Norma J. Bloyer

Bloyer, 83, of Prairie du Chien, was called home to heaven, peacefully in her sleep, on Wednesday, April 4, at the Bluff Haven Care Center. Born Dec. 14, 1934, to George and Marilla (Campbell) Adney, Norma lived her entire life in Prairie du Chien. She was married to Michael Fernette, and they had one daughter. Following Michael’s death, Norma later married Kenneth Bloyer on June 10, 1967, at St. Gabriel’s Church in Prairie du Chien. She and Ken had four children. They farmed in rural Prairie du Chien for many years and enjoyed selling Christmas trees during the holiday season. Along with being a farmer’s wife and raising five children, Norma worked for Crawford County for more than 30 years. She was an avid Blackhawk, Packer, Badger and Brewer fan. Norma enjoyed bowling and loved to read—always having a book close by. She also had not-so-secret crushes on Johnny Cash, Elvis, Joe Namath and Chuck Norris. She is survived by her children Evan Bloyer, of Oregon, Heidi Bloyer, of Prairie du Chien, Amy (Robert) Peek, of La Crosse, Kim Bloyer, of La Crosse, Michele (Randy) Check, of Oconto; her grandchildren Clair, Natalie, Travis, Megan and Max. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Michael Fernette and Kenneth Bloyer; a brother Robert Adney; and a sister Doris Bittner.A celebration of Norma’s life will be will be held on Saturday, April 14, at Garrity Funeral Home from 1 to 4 p.m. We request everyone to please wear their favorite sport’s team apparel (sorry, no Hawkeye gear allowed). Friends are welcome to join the family at The Blackhawk following the funeral home visitation. Interment will be at a later date in the Calvary Cemetery in Prairie du Chien. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Norma’s name to the Prairie du Chien Public Library. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family. On the 9th day, God looked down on His promised paradiseAnd knew the farmer would need a partner, helperand friend to celebrate...
